Florida Statute 1003.24 (26) requires regular school attendance; it is the LAW.
(A child enrolled in kindergarten is deemed to be of compulsory school age.)
Attendance procedure: Attendance expectation contract is signed at the beginning of each school year.
ALL ABSENCES ARE UNEXCUSED UNTIL A PROPER NOTE IS GIVEN
- A student may be excused for a continued or repeated illness for up to ten (10) attendance days during the SCHOOL YEAR if a parent provides a parent note or doctor’s note.
- After 10 absences a doctor’s note will be REQUIRED for future absences to be excused.
- If a student has a chronic medical condition, a Medical Documentation for Absences Form can be signed by your child’s physician and you to excuse absences related to that medical condition, however a parent note will still be required for each absence.
Excused absences defined as:
- personal illness
- illness or death of immediate family
- judicial actions
- school sponsored activity
- religious holiday (must be on approved list for PCPS)
- head lice (5 days only)
Tardies & Early Check outs
- 3 unexcused tardies and/or early checkouts will be counted as one unexcused absence for truancy purposes.

If you need the student PIN to access parent portal please come to the school, with a valid government issued ID, and the PIN will be provided to you.
